The Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (APQA), with its 116-year history dating back to the establishment Quarantine Service for Cattle Export in 1909, is Korea’s leading authority dedicated to safeguarding animal and plant health. APQA undertakes vital roles including animal and plant quarantine, disease prevention, animal protection and welfare, veterinary medicine oversight, and research and development. As the national standard-setting agency for quarantine and disease control, APQA is committed to preventing the introduction of animal diseases and plant pests through rigorous border inspections and science-based management utilizing big data.

The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Seoul National University (SNU) will celebrate its 80th anniversary in 2027. As South Korea’s oldest institution of veterinary higher education, CVM has pioneered veterinary science throughout the modern history of Korea.
